Hip Hop Heads Up – Chamillionaire “Show Love”

Chamillionaire feat. DA - "Show Love"

Chamillionaire feat. DA – “Show Love”

I have been a huge fan of Chamillionaire since before the “Riding Dirty” days and in general it’s no secret I’m a big fan of the whole Houston “chopped and screwed” DJ scene, but I have to give huge credit to Cham for sticking with his original style, as well as, refusing to sell out.

Cham has spent a lot of time and effort working on his latest album. To the point he dropped off a major label in order to stay true to his vision and sound. He’s been a forefront leader at getting his music out through social media, a strong web presence, and a grass roots support base of dedicated fans.

With work ethic and artistic integrity it is only appropriate that I show some love (no pun intended) for his new video for “Show Love”, which is a lead up marketing effort to his new album. Be sure to check it out:

Quick Note: Pirate Radio Link Moved

Just a quick note… I moved the digitalflood Pirate Radio link into the top menu under “Music” (if you hover over the category it will show up in the drop down menu as well as the page itself). If you recall, in df v10 it used to be there; but when we went to v11 I had some complications getting the link to work. I had a bit of a break through this afternoon and realized a easy way to pull it off. So now things are back to where they should be. I also tidied up and compacted the right hand menu items to keep things easy to navigate.

DF.com Returns to MySpace

All of three years ago we had a digitalflood Pirate Radio profile in the MySpace.com Music section. We had over 14,000 friends. We were routinely the number one band by views within a 20 mile radius of Warwick, NY. We had some 500 views per day of our profile. In short, we ran the joint.

The problem was MySpace was in its Golden era and unable to deal with all the traffic on the site. As such, they began hunting down the highest viewed pages that weren’t on a major label and weren’t part of MySpace Tom’s clique. With that, we were targeted, terminated, and told we violated copyright law.

Well, the gold rush is over and so are the witch hunts on MySpace. With that we have launched a brand new profile on MySpace Music and we are once again ready to run the joint. Let’s do this thing.

The new profile can be found at: http://www.myspace.com/djdigitalflood

DF Pirate Radio – “The Milwaukee’s Best Session”

Title: Vol. 4 Episode 1 (Click Link to Play) Rel: 10/12/08
Description: “The Milwaukee’s Best Session” – What happens when you drink 12 Milwaukee’s Best Ice beers and go wild on a turn table? This episode is what! Very random mix of rap, classic rock, dance hall, and industrial style music. The session was recorded live in one take with the radio banners inserted in post production. There is no dialogue or special guests. Just lots (60 plus minutes) of straight music remixed to DJ digitalflood heart’s content. This is the first DJ set released by DJ digitalflood in almost a year, but it’s well worth the wait.

DF Pirate Radio – “2007 Beat Feast”

Title: Vol. 3 Episode 1 (Click Link to Play) Rel: 11/21/07
Description: 2007 Beat Feast – Cut Like Crack [kuht lahyk krak] – noun : Style of disc jockeying where multiple samples are mixed with distorted, erratic, and appregated music. The style is distinct for for its very noticedable use of juxtaposition between silence and over driven bursts of noise, as well as, liberal tempo changes. Cut Like Crack was developed in Upstate New York and has become a popular form of re-working existing music pieces into one semi-unified long play composition. It is primarily used by locally popular disc jockeys who prefer to steal music from online file sharing services and release their compositions illegally via the Internet. Thus Cut Like Crack is considered less of an art form and more of illicit uses of other artists’ works. Cut Like Crack was developed as a way to represent the audible feeling of driving while under the influence of alcohol at over 100 MPH at night in search of a Chickenette or other fried poultry products. A practice, that stems from the underground youth culture of night life common to the metropolitan suburbs of New York and New Jersey.
