Back to the Grind

Virtual DJ 5 Mix Session-- this isn't one of mine though. I mean God that's a crappy playlist!

Virtual DJ 5 Mix Session-- this isn't one of mine though. I mean God that's a crappy playlist!

All my audio production applications are back in order as are my art and web production applications. The short version is I’m 100% back in business and fully recovered from my computer’s main hard drive failure. With that, production will resume on digitalflood Pirate Radio starting tomorrow. Release for “Volume 5 Episode 4” will be this Saturday (12/19/09). I’m also going to try to crank out “Volume 5 Episode 5” by 12/21/09. That will put us back on schedule episode wise. Like most people who’ve run Microsoft Windows XP on the same computer for five plus years and then were forced to format– I’m enjoying my new found speed and system stability. I guess either way it was about time for me to reload Windows. I’ve been running on a patched together operating system for like two years and a bad hard drive for about four months. So all in all it could be worse.

While I was at it, I loaded a whole bunch of new effects into Virtual DJ. So you can expect some fresh new tricks to be rolled out over the next few Pirate Radio mix tape sessions. My latest trick is what I call the flanger solo. You’ll hear it in Episode 4 pretty pronounced, but those of you who listed to Episode 3 from this season will be able to kind of figure out where I’m going. If you have a good subwoofer you’ll also notice my new experiments in what is called sub-bass. My goal is to set off the air bag in your car. I’m almost there.

DF Pirate Radio – “Oi Vai, This Ain’t Kosher!”

Title: Vol. 5 Episode 2 (Click Link to Play) Rel: 11/28/09
Description:Oi Vai, This Ain’t Kosher!” – After ten months on hiatus, digitalflood Pirate Radio returns to finish off the season (Volume 5) bringing their irrelevant, witty, and always original web cast back to the Internet. This episode kicks off that return with DJ digitalflood and special guest co-host Reverend Damian Baker. M’Weezy is off and busy with pursuing her Registered Nursing AS degree and with her not around the question quickly becomes– just how out of control will DJ digitalflood get without M’Weezy being around to reign him in? You’ll have to listen in to find out. You’ll also hear about the good Reverend’s recent change of religion, Halloween trick or treat tomfoolery, and get to listen to his latest off the wall playlist. It’s a heavily 70s funk and soul influenced mix, but there’s bits of nu metal and rap in there as well. The conversation does take some strange detours and you’ll end up knowing more about the good Reverend than you may have ever wanted to know to begin with, but one things for sure– you’re sure to laugh the hardest you have in a long time. Keep your ears tuned for the MLK Jr. bobble head reference. Classic!

DF Pirate Vol. 5 Ep. 2 Is Ready

Happy Thanksgiving from the Year 1900!

Happy Thanksgiving from the Year 1900!

As I write this post, I am listening to the final mixed version of “digitalflood Pirate Radio Volume 5 Episode 2” starring myself and my special guest co-host Reverend Damian Baker. It sounds absolutely fabulous and I’m absolutely stoked to get his one to you. I will salivate your palette a little and let you know this episode is a double size one hour and forty two minutes in total length. Yes, we’re talking over an hour and half of Pirate Radio goodness. The art work for the episode (which prior viewers know every episode gets a graphic) is also done. We’re absolutely 100% ready for a 11/28/09 release. This is happening without a doubt at this point.

I’m also happy to report that I believe I’ve lined up a guest for “Vol. 5 Episode 3”. We should be recording this Saturday and if it all goes right I’ll let you know.

Production this year was done a little different. Late in Volume 4 we changed how we recorded the episodes to speed recording up for the guests and to also make the final product more polished. I think you’ll notice the difference.

Finally, tomorrow in Warwick, NY we’ll be celebrating Thanksgiving Eve and the return of Pirate Radio around the various bars/pubs in the Village of Warwick, NY. We should be starting the party at The Blarney Station around 7:30 pm. If you’re in the area be sure to be on the watch out for us and to take the time to grab a pint with us.

If I don’t get a chance to talk to you in between now and Thanksgiving I want to be sure to wish all my viewers, as well as, friends and family a wonderful Thanksgiving. We really do appreciate all your patience and thank you for sticking with us through all the ups and downs. We are truly thankful for our friends, family, and fans. Your are nothing short of wonderful. Be safe and enjoy the holiday.

Pirate Radio Vol. 5 Episode 2 – “Preview”

Reverend Damian Baker

Reverend Damian Baker

As you may remember (or not since it’s been so long), we already recorded our first digitalflood Pirate Radio for the year (Vol. 5 Episode 1) back in January of 2009. Because of that show, this new and forthcoming Pirate Radio show will be labeled “Vol. 5 Episode 2”. Hopefully this explanation will avoid confusion when you see it up on df.com in some nine days and counting down. I didn’t want you to think I was pulling some cheesy Star Wars hokey release a later episode before the earlier episode garbage.

I’m happy to announce Vol. 5 Episode 2 will be guest hosted by none other than Reverend Damian Baker. The good Reverend’s profile can be found on DF Staff Page #2. Unfortunately due to scheduling conflicts M’Weezy will not be available, but all that means is there will be no one to reel me in. As such, this should be an episode to remember. Throw in the fact that the good Reverend always shows up with a few musical surprises and you can for sure understand this is an episode you’ll need to have in your df Pirate Radio MP3 collection. As I always say, “Let’s get into it!”

We Got Lost… *ahem*

I’ve never been the most punctual individual. Ask anyone who knows me. I’m perpetually at least five minutes behind schedule and notoriously known for estimating being somewhere in an hour to only show up five hours later with nothing more than a “that took longer than I thought”. So there should be no surprise to most of you that this week’s episode took four months to be produced. We recorded the episode back in November of 2008 and yes– it is only now ready for release. Needless to say production was not long because of the intricacy of the work, but more along the lines of that I moved at a snail’s pace. Distracted by chores, hanging out with the kids, beer, and “Family Guy” reruns on TBS; there was simply no time for the Pirate Radio. Over the last week though I felt the “special sauce” and “had at it like a rabid wolverine on Diet Tab”. So here we are, the latest digitalflood Pirate Radio we fondly like to call “The Lost Episode“. “Lost” roughly translating to “Me So Lazy, Me Love You Long Time”. Enjoy!
