Picture Perfect

I went through the Graphic Art and Photography galleries in the Artwork section of the site this evening. I’ve added all the photo titles (when you hover over the thumbnail they show up) and the descriptions (when you actually click on the picture and it opens up). It’s something I’ve been meaning to do (and dreading). Better late than never.

DF.com on YouTube

As promised, you will now find in our newly added Video section a group of videos that feeds from our “Favorites” list from YouTube.com (found on the site here). We’ll be adding more videos over time, but there are some of our top perennial favorites posted already to get things going. Of course, you’re always welcome to drop us a line via comments on this post to let us know what videos you’d like to see included. We just might dig what you’re cooking and post it. Who knows. We just might.

To make room on the main menu bar I changed the Visual Artwork section to the smaller length Artwork section. Content remains the same though I did delete some duplicate Graphic Art that I found.

You’ll also find in the right hand side menu some quick picks of the top external DF.com sites from around web the under “Beyond DF.com – Top Picks” heading. The complete list of external sites can be found in the Beyond DF.com section.

Our expansion around the web is complete at this point (at least for the time being). We’re far from done though… we’ve got a few more tricks up our sleeves that we’ll be showing off over the next few weeks. Stay tuned!

Countdown to Go Live

Last night I began making final preparations for df.com v11 final to go live. I finished up some final security audits and permissions checks. I also ran some final performance checks. All passed flawlessly. I’ve checked over the pages for any final typos or lay out flaws– I found none. There are no open issues reports and we made some final changes to content:

With that we appear ready for final go live on 10/7/09 barring any further issues. Thank you to everyone who gave feedback and looked over the site for me. Six months of work is about to come full head and the fruits of my labor is arguably the best web site I’ve produced to date.

Now comes the hard (and fun) part– filling it with more Pirate Radio and art for you to enjoy, as well as, the uncanny articles you’ve come to love as filler in-between.

Pirate Radio Cast Page

finally finished off the Pirate Radio section. The most recent addition being the new Cast and Guests pages. You can find every person who has ever appeared on Pirate Radio and then some. In some semi-related news, I’ve spoken with MC Mary @ The Disco! and she’s stoked about starting the show back up. Things are still firming up planning wise, but be sure to stayed tuned as we head into a new season. Expect a launch date to be announced sooner than later.

Back Where It Began

Three hard days (and some 15 hours of coding later) daylight is starting to show on the new site. I’ve finished up the Albums section restoring all the content as it was prior to take down. The Art section is fully updated and ready to go. Contact Us is working as planned. I’ve also put up some Links and gotten the Site Search up. The latter Search is still indexing though and could take up to 48 hours to go live (I’ll update you when it seems to be functioning properly). Finally, the forwarding is in place for the initial site load to land here. I’m personally feeling very accomplished and very happy with the end results. Next up, I have to tackle restoring Pirate Radio, which will be a daunting task. The new Radio section should be pretty full featured and end up being more than a one page landing zone as it has been in the past. I think you’ll be happy with the end results.
